  1. Kenneth Beck says:

Any tax system with exemptions, simply is a system ripe for fraud and that fraud will happen!

    • Carl Bearden says:

There is no tax system under which fraud will not occur whether it’s the Missouri Taxpayer Relief Act or the national Fair Tax or anything else. The exemptions in the Missouri Taxpayer Relief Act affect all so fraud will be hard to accomplish but not impossible.

Today we have over 132 special interest exemptions that pick winners and losers. Those go away under the MTRA. The measure is constitutional so the legislature cannot change the exemptions in the constitution. They can add to them with a 2/3′s vote of both chambers and the governor’s signature. If anyone thinks that will be easy to accomplish they are sorely out of touch with reality of the legislative process.
