End of Session – and Danger – Near!

The Second Regular Session of the 96th General Assembly is rapidly approaching it’s constitutionally mandated close. The Missouri Constitution requires that the legislative session conclude by 6pm this Friday. This year’s session is the longest possible under the constitution which says the session is to begin the first Wednesday after the first Monday in January and must conclude by 6pm on the second Friday after the first Monday in May. A Long Time Coming but It’s Here!

After several weeks, the House Insurance Committee has voted “Do Pass” on Senate Bill 464 sponsored by Senator Rob Schaaf (R-34). The bill prohibits the Governor and unelected bureaucrats from implementing the Obamacare Insurance Exchange without legislative authorization or a vote of the people. If the Missouri House passes the bill we will vote to make it the law of the land this year and your actions will have made it happen!

You and Help from the Gang of 9 Did It!

The Senate wrapped up their version of the Fiscal Year 2013 budget about 2:30am this morning. Thanks to the work of many of our grassroots members – NOT included in the budget is the $50 million Federal grant for the “Medicaid Computer Upgrade”. This grant included laying the groundwork for the implementation of the Obamacare Insurance Exchange. A so-called “Gang of 9” worked to stop it and several other items in the budget.

Urgent Action Required – Eliminate Obamacare Insurance Exchange Budget Funding!

Somehow, House Bill 2011 came out of the Senate Appropriations Committee with the Governor’s Amendment adding $50 million for “Medicaid computer upgrades,” which is really a cover-up for laying the groundwork for the Obama Insurance Exchange. Several of the committee members were surprised to find this line item in the bill and have vowed to fight it!
