A number of European newspapers have made note about the decline of America’s power and economic influence in the world and they don’t like it. Unlike President Obama, they recognize that a strong America, militarily and economically is good for the world! Heck, even Russia has chided America for going down the wrong road!
Now, an article in entitled, America Has Become Too European hits the nail squarely on the head. The opening paragraph pretty much says it all:
The Obama administration and the Federal Reserve want to fix the United States economy by spending more money. But while that approach might work for Europe, it is risky for the US. The nation would be better off embracing traditional American values like self-reliance and small government.
Wow! It’s pretty sad when socialist leaning Europe and Marxist Russia recognize the United States is on a course for self-destruction. Makes you wonder why all the “smart” people in Washington can’t see it. Most Americans see it!
Of course, in order to recognize what Spiegel and others do about the decline of American policies and influence and how bad it is for the world, you would have to actually have people in charge that know what they are doing. We don’t.
The Owebama administration has the highest number of “leaders” with the least amount of business experience of any administration. They are not governing by what makes sense for America to prosper by creating an environment where businesses grow jobs. No, they are governing by what they “feel” is right. They are governing by “social justice” principles which are not principles at all but thinly veiled re-distribution schemes period!
There is no level of government, and especially the federal government, that is charged with, commissioned to or otherwise authorized to re-distribute wealth. There is no level of government, especially the federal government, that is that is charged with, commissioned to or otherwise authorized to make people happy. All levels of government, especially the federal government, are charged with, commissioned to and otherwise authorized to create an environment in which people have the opportunity for “the pursuit of happiness”, not guarantee happiness.
Most peddlers of the “social justice” idiom believe that it is government’s job to provide for those who are less fortunate by taking from those who are more fortunate. Horse feathers! This has never been the intended function of the AMERICAN government!
There is a reason why that only since the development and implementation of “government schemes” to take care of the less fortunate that the rich have gotten richer and the poor have gotten poorer! The Founders knew that government could not and should not be in the business of “providing” for the welfare of the people when it came to providing them food, shelter and clothing. They recognized from the extensive studies of successful and failed governments that when those governments became “providers” rather than “enablers”, they collapsed.
The Spiegel article is on target. We don’t need to learn new ways of governing. We don’t need to have more regulations, indeed we need less. What we need is exactly what the article points out, to embrace traditional American values like self-reliance and small government.
