The choice is clear – will your legislator vote to let you keep more of your money stimulating our state’s economy or will they vote to support government spending your money? It’s that simple – choose government spending or let us keep more of our money.

HB253 is the first state income tax cut in almost 100 years! The legislature is one vote away from passing this historic tax cut. You can play an important role in making history by CLICKING HERE to let your representative know you support an override of Governor Nixon’s veto of the tax cut bill.

Governor Nixon has traveled the state in a new $5.6 million airplane we bought for himtrying to convince special interests to pressure legislators into not letting taxpayers keep of our own money! He distorts the truth and is holding many areas of the budget hostage. The state had a nearly $400 million surplus but the Governor is playing politics with education, seniors and autism funding for his own political gain.

The legislature has appropriated record levels of education funding every year but Governor Nixon has cut over $600 million from education since 2009. He is the only cutting or threatening to cut education and other sensitive areas!

Even Missourians in Democrat strongholds like Kansas City and St Louis do not favor the Governor’s cutting of education.  And it may come as a surprise to you, but over 69% of those in Kansas City and St Louis favor a veto override!

CLICK HERE to let your legislator know stand up for we taxpayers and against the Governor’s bully tactics!

The Governor falsely claims HB253 is a risky experiment. Tell that to the folks in Oklahoma and Kansas. Their legislators cut their income taxes while being told the very same things we are hearing in Missouri.  Those dire “end of world” predictions did not come true in those states and they won’t come true here either!

I could describe in words what is happening in Oklahoma and Kansas but pictures are worth a thousand words!  Oklahoma was supposed to dry up and blow away when they started their tax cuts.  Here are the FACTS:

Oklahoma’s State Treasurer just reported last week that FY2013 was the largest year of tax collections in the state’s history! And this was during a time when natural gas tax revenue was nearly zero. Not bad for a state that was supposed to dry up and blow away!

Kansas has a similar story:

  • Kansas jumped from 27th to 11th in total economic climate.
    • Missouri fell from 7th to 23rd.
  • First five months of 2013, the Kansas side of KC gained nearly 8,000 new jobs.
    • Missouri lost 400.
  • KC Business Journal reports during the past fiscal year the Kansas side of KC gained 1,400 construction jobs
    • Missouri lost 1,600.
  • The Kauffman Foundation’s small business climate ranking gives Missouri a C and Kansas an A.

Oh yeah, Kansas was supposed to LOSE revenue from the tax cuts they enacted. But just like Oklahoma, they actually GAINED revenue.

The Solution: Lower the Income Tax for All Missourians for the First Time in Nearly 100 Years!

On September 11, our state legislators will vote on whether all Missouri families deserve to lower their income taxes for the first time in nearly 100 years.  Since this vote is likely, and could be close, calling your elected official is very important and timely now.  Please remind them that our state collects more revenue than it needs to spend and that money should be refunded to the taxpayers who earned it.

Passing House Bill 253 this September will help Missouri grow the size of the economy, not the size of government.

Key advantages to this broad based tax reform package include:

  • Lower income taxes for all Missourians for the first time in nearly 100 years.
  • responsible approach that utilizes revenue growth to trigger more tax breaks. If the state collects more than it needs, it returns that money back to taxpayers through a reduction in income tax rates.
  • No loopholes, no gimmicks, and no lobbyist needed. EVERY Missourian benefits.
  • Allows people who have become delinquent on their taxes the chance to get back into compliance with reduced penalties.
  • The reduction in state income taxes will help offset looming increases in federal taxes.

NOW is the time to join with thousands of other Missourians and let your legislators know you support reforming Missouri’s tax policy. CLICK HERE to support an override of Governor Nixon’s veto of the tax cut bill and let your legislator know you can spend your money better than the state can!
